Welcome note to students.

Welcome international students of social work! We are a group of eight social work institutions from eight countries (Sweden, Israel, Spain, United Kingdom, USA, India & Canada) who are interested in exploring student perceptions of journaling as a teaching and learning strategy that facilitates (or not) transformative learning. We are also interested in how journaling can help to integrate student’s current life experiences during this time of COVID-19 with that of their social work education. We hope to answer the following:

  1. How does the use of reflective journaling method with social work students promote transformative learning in the blended and/or online setting during COVID-19?
  2. How does the use of reflective journaling help social work students frame their life experiences during COVID-19?
  3. In what ways does the practice of reflective journal help to foster the student’s professional identity and development as an emerging practitioner?

We would like you to participate in this international collaboration by agreeing to answer a questionnaire and be part of a cross-national focus group interview. Participation is, of course, voluntary. The data collected in the survey is anonymous and will be hosted on a secure server made only to the researchers and used to achieve the research objectives.

You are welcome to contact the research coordinator if you have any questions at Michael.wallengren-lynch@mau.se

Kind regards, The Research Team
